College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences
The College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences (CAES) at Adigrat University was established to address the growing need for skilled professionals in agriculture, environmental management, and sustainable development in Northern Ethiopia. Since its founding, the College has served as a key pillar of Adigrat University’s commitment to advancing agricultural innovation, environmental stewardship, and community-oriented solutions.
In its early years, the College offered a limited number of undergraduate programs focused on core agricultural sciences. Over time, it has expanded to include multiple departments covering crop and soil sciences, animal production, agricultural economics, environmental management, and natural resource conservation. Several of these departments now also offer postgraduate programs (regular and summer), reflecting the College’s growth and increasing academic capacity.
From its inception, the College has been dedicated to producing competent agriculturalists, environmental specialists, and sustainability leaders who contribute to regional and national development. The College delivers high-quality education, applied research, and community services aligned with Ethiopia’s goals for food security, environmental protection, and sustainable agricultural development.
With an emphasis on innovation, climate-smart agriculture, and sustainable resource management, the College continues to evolve as a center of academic excellence and practical solutions, preparing graduates to meet contemporary challenges in agriculture, environmental science, and rural development.
