College of Engineering and Technology (CET)
The College of Engineering and Technology (CET) at Adigrat University was established in November 2011 and became one of the pioneering Engineering and technology institutions in Northern Ethiopia. The College was founded at the same time the University was established and has been designed as the cornerstone of Adigrat University’s strong focus on technology, engineering, and innovation.
In its inaugural year, the college offered only four undergraduate fields of study: Civil Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Chemical Engineering. Currently, the college has reached ten departments, all with undergraduate programs, and three departments with postgraduate (regular and summer) programs.
At its establishment, the University admitted a total of around 960 students, of which above 400—nearly half—were placed in the College of Engineering and Technology, reflecting the University’s early and enduring commitment to developing Ethiopia’s engineering and technological capacity.
Since its inception, CET has been dedicated to producing competent engineers, innovators, and problem-solvers who contribute to national and regional development. The College delivers quality education, applied research, and community service aligned with Ethiopia’s vision for industrialization and technological transformation.
With an emphasis on innovation, entrepreneurship, and sustainable development, the College continues to evolve as a center of academic excellence and practical solutions, preparing graduates to meet the challenges of the 21st century and drive progress across sectors.
