College of Social Sciences and Humanities (CSSH)
The College of Social Sciences and Humanities (CSSH) at Adigrat University was established to provide high-quality education, research, and training in the fields of social sciences, humanities, and cultural studies. The College serves as a center for understanding human behavior, society, governance, and culture, preparing graduates to contribute meaningfully to social development, policy-making, and community engagement in Northern Ethiopia and beyond.
Initially, the College offered undergraduate programs in core disciplines such as sociology, political science, history, and languages. Over time, it has expanded to include multiple departments covering education, philosophy, communication, psychology, and other interdisciplinary fields. Several of these departments now also offer postgraduate programs (regular and summer), reflecting the College’s growth in academic and research capacity.
From its inception, the College has been dedicated to producing knowledgeable, ethical, and socially responsible professionals who can address societal challenges, foster cultural understanding, and promote community development. The College delivers high-quality education, applied research, and community services that align with Ethiopia’s social development priorities.
With an emphasis on interdisciplinary research, critical thinking, and ethical leadership, the College continues to evolve as a hub for academic excellence and social innovation, equipping graduates to become thought leaders, policy influencers, and agents of positive change in their communities.

Academic Programs
The College offers multiple BSc programs and has plans to expand MSc and other postgraduate programs in selected fields. Curricula are regularly updated to align with global academic trends, national priorities, and societal needs.
Research and Community Engagement
The College actively engages in applied and interdisciplinary research focused on:
