Adigrat University Conducts Orientation Workshop on Academic Program Review.

On April 16, 2026 (G.C.), Adigrat University’s Institutional Reform Committee (IRC) conducted an orientation workshop on Academic Program Review (APR) for college-level program review committees. The workshop aimed to align APR practices with national higher education policies and address previous procedural inconsistencies.

Opening the session, Dr. Gebrekidan Tesfay, Vice President for Academic, Research and Community Engagement, emphasized the urgency of completing program reviews and the need to strictly follow national guidelines. He also clarified that program review must precede any curriculum reform.

Mr. Girmay Tadele, Academic Programs Director and IRC Chair, highlighted that regular program review is essential for the University’s quality, relevance, and sustainability. A guideline document outlining procedures, templates, and timelines was presented to support implementation.

The workshop improved participants’ understanding, corrected earlier misconceptions, and strengthened the capacity of committees to carry out program reviews despite resource constraints.

Overall, the orientation workshop was successful in providing clear guidance, reinforcing policy alignment, and equipping participants with the necessary framework and understanding to undertake rigorous Academic Program Reviews. It represents a significant step forward in Adigrat University’s ongoing efforts toward institutional reform and academic excellence.
