Adigrat University Signs MoU with Wegagen Bank to Strengthen Institutional Collaboration!!

Adigrat University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Wegagen Bank to enhance institutional collaboration and expand access to modern mobile banking services for the university community. The agreement is part of ongoing efforts to promote digital financial inclusion and improve the efficiency and accessibility of financial services within the university system.

The MoU was formally signed by Dr. Gebremichael Weldegebriel on behalf of Adigrat University, reflecting the institution’s strategic direction toward digital transformation and strengthened service delivery. The partnership is expected to facilitate broader adoption of mobile banking solutions, thereby improving convenience and financial accessibility for students and staff.

On behalf of Wegagen Bank, Mr. Haftom Gebregzabher Chief of the North Region Office (Mekelle District), signed the agreement. He emphasized the bank’s commitment to supporting higher education institutions through innovative digital banking services and sustainable institutional partnerships aimed at improving financial service delivery in the region.

Adigrat University Delivers Second Round of Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Training.

As part of its large-scale project “Healing the Wounds of War: Delivering Comprehensive Mental Health and Psychosocial Support,” funded by the University’s recurrent budget, Adigrat University has delivered a second round of Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) training to 32 participants.

The session was opened by Dr. Haftay Gebreyesus, Director of the Research, Publication, and Ethics Directorate, who highlighted the importance of MHPSS in the University’s research and community engagement activities. The training was led by Dr. Teklebrhan Berhe, Principal Investigator, along with co-investigators Mr. Daniel Kidanemariyam, Mr. Kiros Kidanemariam, Mr. Hagos Mehari, and Ms. Biruktawit Abraham.

The program utilized the Professional Intervention Program for Adversity (PIPA) to address trauma, stress, and other mental health challenges while strengthening coping skills and psychosocial resilience.

All 32 participants (27 males and 5 females) completed the training, which was delivered through structured group sessions by trained psychotherapists and counselors. Pre- and post-assessment results showed that 84% of participants experienced a significant reduction in distress levels (PCL-5).

Overall, the training effectively supported participants’ psychological well-being and improved their ability to manage daily activities.

Adigrat University Senate Approves Research, Publication, Ethics, and Dissemination Guideline.

The Senate of Adigrat University held an in-depth discussion on the University’s Research, Publication, Ethics, and Dissemination Guideline and approved it after thorough review.

The guideline was presented to the Senate members by Mr. Gebrelibanos Gebremariam, member of the committee and Head of the Teachers’ Association. Following the presentation, Senate members critically examined the document in detail and raised important concerns and recommendations for improvement.

The guideline is expected to serve as a roadmap for research, publication, ethical standards, and dissemination activities of the University in alignment with national standards.

After providing constructive comments that helped refine the document, the Senate reached a consensus and approved the guideline.
