According to Associate Professor Niguse Gebru, Dean of the College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, the primary objective of establishing the modern farm is to serve the community through improved agricultural production and professional extension services while developing the facility into a nationally recognized center for agricultural and livestock research.

The Dean also expressed his sincere appreciation to the University’s top management for their unwavering commitment and continuous support in advancing the College’s initiatives and the development of the modern farm.

Dr. Teame G/Hiwot, Head of the Department of Animal Sciences and a researcher at the farm, explained that the farm will play a significant role in strengthening the University’s internal revenue generation. Beyond serving as a center for research and practical training, it is expected to contribute to the University’s long-term efforts toward financial sustainability and institutional self-reliance.

The College further indicated that, with the support of the Tigray Regional Agriculture Bureau

a large number of fish fingerlings have also been supplied to the farm. These will support the University’s efforts to advance research, expand community service, enhance practical learning opportunities, and promote sustainable agricultural development.
